Project: Storyboard, Video and Booklet

On 25th May 2016 the final celebration event of our WW1Lydiate Project was held at St Gregory’s Primary School. The event was enjoyed by about 170 people and involved watching the film of our project and unveiling the Information Board in the school’s peace garden. You can view pictures of the occasion and watch the video for yourself below. Many of those who had been involved in the project enjoyed afternoon tea after the main events. Every family from St Gregory’s and St Thomas’s was given a copy of the booklet which we have published, written by one of our committee members, Pam Russell, and telling the story of Lydiate’s Great War. Other copies were given to  a number of local history societies, local churches, libraries, and to all those who had been involved in the project. You can read the booklet by inserting this address into your browser:

Here is the video we have created which tells the story of our project. All the music in the video was recorded live at the Commemoration Service. We hope you enjoy it.

Below you can see photographs of the Information Board we produced which has information about all the soldiers on the memorial. One of the boards is in St Gregory’s peace garden and the other in St Thomas’s peace garden. The information boards will provide a lasting legacy to generations of children  and families, reminding them of the sacrifice which the 24 WW1 fallen of Lydiate made.
