Following the success of the “Maghull’s Great War” Project which was based at St Andrew’s, St Gregory’s and St Thomas’s Primary Schools received a grant of £10,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2015  to explore the impact of WW1 on the village of Lydiate. The schools worked in collaboration with local historians to provide rich and meaningful experiences for both children and adults which developed their understanding of WW1 in the local context.

The Planning Group first met in March 2015, and have met at regular intervals since to ensure the smooth running of the project and to evaluate its impact.
